To do this, run the command KILLZOMBIES and choose the applications for which you want to delete the proxy objects.Ī LISP function named gc-killallzombies removes all the proxy objects and proxy entities found in the drawing. When you're sure you do not need these objects can be deleted to reduce the file. If these applications or the corresponding object activators (Object Enabler) are not available when opening such a file, Autodesk® AutoCAD® converts these objects 'proxy objects' (or zombie). I also use sketchup free (also allowed for commercial use) to model stuff and import directly into blender via JMSoler's kmz importer, or there's another option opening the file and extracting its Collada info (btw, this tutorial was also created by a member of NIEL): I think I even posted some of this stuff in blenderartist's forums, but as you say, only a few respondedĪbout sketchup, I think it may be possible to get the pipeline you want working. That's all possible now via DoubleCAD-blender integration. I also created some video tutorials of the process, using A9cad, that you may find here (right click link-save file as): We were experimenting with progecad smart, but as you know, it's not allowed for commercial use, and here's where Dcad kills any competence!. We've discussed the blender-CAD integration via DXF several times there. The community's response was very positive and I'm planning to help them as much as I can from my own learning experience with both CAD and blender So far i started posting it at a Blender Spanish-Speaking forum called Niel: I just posted it in Dcad's "User Gallery" forum as well to keep things clean.

So maybe you could also give DXF a try to import your stuff into Max? It feels as if DXF is a more pure and sharing-oriented file formatīut anyway, I must say after all these years of trying CAD alternatives to work with blender, this is the first true professional-grade software in the market to offer so many benefits and features! Even the pro version has an attractive price for many design studios that already use blendera s their main 3d modeling-rendering application. My cleaned-up version in Dcad, then saved as DXF: With blender, the way to go is DXF, I just tried it with DoubleCAD and it works flawlessly! Here are some screenies:Ģ.
But now that DoubleCad is out, and as you guys say "We're trying to shake up the CAD world", this is a real CAD revolution! I'm making DoubleCAD my one and only cad drawing application and I'm promoting it in the blender communities as much as I can. It's the only one that never gives me problems.īut now, and after not being able to pay for expensive yearly updates for 3dsmax anymore, I totally switched my workflow to blender and using inexpensive/free CAD alternatives like intellicad or A9cad. I've found that the best working format, specially for cross-compatibility and portability, is the dwg2000 format. I used to use 3dsmax/Autocad and had problems with dwgs even when being products of the same company! It usually has to do with saving using the latest dwg version available.
